It’s not a wallaby, mate! For the last few years psychedelic-influenced mayhem has seen a major uptick in the musical zeitgeist, with bands like Silversun Pickups, Dirty Projectors, and Animal Collective going mainstream and showing up on place you’d not expect to see psychedelic-influenced mayhem, like (Late Night with David Letterman).
Enter three teenagers from Perth, Australia with the unlikely moniker Tame Impala. These thress teenagers started making music under that name in 1999 at the ripe young age of 13, and have now perfected that heavy, fuzzed out rock sound that they began creating over 10 years ago. Their music sounds more like something you’d hear coming from a smoke-filled, well, Chevy Impala in the 1970s after a Jimi Hendrix tune than something you’d see fresh on YouTube. But hey, anything is possible.
This video is for one of my favorite tracks off of the new record Innerspeaker: “Desire Be, Desire Go.” Enjoy while I come up with more relevant content…
